While the FIA World Rallycross Championship was held at Lydden Hill last weekend (27 th – 29th May) Dan Rooke was given the ultimate opportunity to make his world debut, driving the Olsberg MSE RXLites Fiesta.
Outlaw Tools were delighted to continue their association with Dan in being one of his main sponsors and witnessing firsthand the talent and admiration Dan exposes. The weekend was blessed with blue skies and a full crowd, creating an atmosphere that delivered outstanding encouragement and positively.
The RXLites proved to be an extremely competitive and level playing field where experience and talent shone through! Many of the competitors in this championship have been competing for a number of years and you could clearly see that they had adapted their driving style, enabling them to carry more speed in and out of the corners. After some initial suspension tweaks Dan found himself within the mix of the top group of drivers and consistently demonstrated his skills in being the fastest driver throughout the joker laps.
Throughout the weekend the ever popular Dan who was cheered on by all the British supporters, proved to get faster and faster and managed to qualify for the semi-finals.
During the close run semi-finals where the top three qualified to go through to the final, the top four cars battled throughout the race and all finished within a second of each other. Unfortunately, even with a spirited drive from Dan who came exceptionally close and at times the third and fourth place car couldn’t have had a piece of paper placed between their front and rear bumpers as they touched and rubbed for position over the closing laps. Unfortunately Dan lost out on the battle for third place by 0.3 seconds.
Many people regard Dan as the future of British Rallycross with his friendly and likable characteristics as he would be the first to acknowledge his areas of development. Hopefully with the benefit of working with Liam Doran as a spotter in the World Rallycross Championship Dan can continue on his learning curve and Outlaw Tools look forward in continuing to support Dan.
